About Us

Background

Feminist Inclusion Leadership Center (FIL-Center) has been a pioneering force since our establishment in 2019. Initially and formerly called Trans Feminist Association Uganda (TFA-Ug), the organization faced challenges in registration due to the Legal environment and human rights violations in our country towards the Queer Community which resulted into changing the name to  FIL_Center and later, was successfully registered in 2023.

With a unique multi-strategy approach to comprehensively handle various issues, we stand out as a Trans-led organization composed of passionate grassroots activists from diverse communities. We offer a variety of programs aimed at supporting and empowering womn, transgender and non-binary individuals, as well as marginalised communities focusing on access to health, education and justice while advancing feminist causes.

OUR MISSION

This means tackling opposing narratives around gender identity, sexuality and expression rights by actively promoting Feminist concepts and gender transformative approaches. We foster change for societal mindset, attitude and transformation on gender discrimination, and specifically securing equal rights for Transgender and gender diverse groups including key populations across all dimensions of social, political, and economic life.
